The Royal University of Bhutan has 10 colleges located across the country. These colleges offer a wide range of academic programmes in areas such as education, engineering, business, science, technology, language, health, and management. Together, they play an important role in providing quality higher education, developing skilled graduates, and supporting the social and economic development of Bhutan.

Gedu College of Business Studies (GCBS)

Kabesa,Thimphu

Founded on 16th July 1961 under the patronage of the Third Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the College of Language and Culture Studies was established as a school dedicated to preserving Bhutan’s unique cultural heritage and traditions.

Taktse, Trongsa

Established in 1992 as the Natural Resources Training Institute, College of Natural Resources emerged from Bhutan’s commitment to integrated rural development and sustainable natural resource management.

Lobesa, Punakha

CST is Bhutan’s premier institute for engineering education. The nation’s leading institution offers internationally recognised bachelor’s and master’s degrees in various engineering fields.

Rinchending, Phuntsholing

Established in 2008, Gedu College of Business Studies is a leading institution dedicated to business and management education in Bhutan. GCBS has embarked on a comprehensive renewal since 2023, enhancing its strategic direction, academic curriculum, and organizational structure to meet evolving national and regional demands.

Gedu, Chukha

Since its inauguration on October 6, 2017, GCIT has functioned as a catalyst for Bhutan’s digital sovereignty. Originally established in Gyalpozhing, Mongar, and now situated in a state-of-the-art campus in Kabjisa, Thimphu, the college has transformed into a vibrant hub for advanced intelligence. What began with an initial cohort of 79 students has evolved into a high-performance ecosystem where modern technology and the principles of Gross National Happiness (GNH) intersect.

The Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) is one of the constituent colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan (RUB). The college was formerly known as the Royal Bhutan Polytechnic, Royal Bhutan Institute of Technology and Jigme Namgyel Polytechnic. It is beautifully located atop a hill overlooking the small town of Dewathang at an altitude of approximately 880 m above the mean sea level.

Samtse College of Education was founded by Bhutan’s Third Dharma King Late His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Launched as a Teacher Training Institute on 29th May 1968, the institute commenced its educational journey with only 41 students and a few teacher educators. Since its establishment the College has given the country’s education system over 5000 graduates with primary teaching certificate, bachelors, diploma, postgraduate diploma, and Masters qualifications.

Samtse, Samtse

Sherubtse College, located in Kanglung, Trashigang, is Bhutan’s oldest and largest higher education institution, founded in 1968. As a constituent college of the Royal University of Bhutan since 2003, it offers various bachelor’s degrees, including Data Science, Economics, Political Science, and Life Sciences.
